OUR BISHOP
Health Care leader, community activist, philanthropist and Pastor, Bishop Melda B. Williams began her ministry at the Brooklyn Tabernacle of Deliverance Center in Brooklyn New York. During her time at the Tabernacle, she served in several capacities as Minister, choir member, outreach member, and prison and shelter ministry volunteer. After a long and arduous tenure at the Tabernacle, Bishop Williams heeded the voice of God and accepted the mandate to Pastor and in 1994 founded Mission on the Move for Christ Inc. Later, under the direct inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the church was renamed More Grace Redemptive Center. Although the name has changed the founding principles have not. This is still a ministry of the word and of prayer, a testament to the miraculous manifestation of the promises of God when one adopts an insatiable desire for the Father.
Bishop Melda Williams, a native of Guyana, endured a daunting upbringing-a journey which she believes was orchestrated by God, and to which she accredits her integrity, discipline and self-reliance. She fervently believes that God is faithful to complete that which he has started and this belief has catapulted her to the level of great faith. Through her ministry, God has wrought many signs and wonders, healings and miracles in the lives of her congregants and the lives of many on and off the mission field who has been touched by her ministry.
Bishop Williams has earned many degrees from secular as well as religious educational institutions. The platform of Bishop Williams is to restore holiness and integrity to the lives of the people of God, while simultaneously ensuring that God’s children experience the fullness of his promises- health, and prosperity even as the soul prospereth. She has a passion for the urban community and desires to see equity and social justice restored to these communities. Moreover, she believes ardently that the future of the Black young man rests solely in the hands of the church and in her ability to effectuate change while instilling a culture of maximizing one’s potential.
Bishop Melda B. Williams has received countless honors from community organizations and governmental agencies. These include the Woman of the Year Award from the Woman of Substance Ministries, Citations from council members, recognition from the Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, the prestigious Citation for Exceptional Leadership awarded by the Guyanese council and through a distinguished partnership with Council Speaker Christine Quinn, and numerous recognitions from fellow religious organizations. These awards are a testament to the work that she has orchestrated in the community and through her tireless efforts to restore the church to a position of honor in our twenty first century world.
Melda B. Williams is the proud mother of two, Michele Lawe and Steve Williams, a grandmother of six and a great grandmother of two. Currently she resides in Brooklyn, New York.
